Accident Waiver & Release of Liability

By signing this form, I (the Participant), and if under 18, my parent/legal guardian, acknowledge and agree:

Eligibility

• I am 18 years of age or older, or my parent/guardian has reviewed and signed on my behalf.
• I understand this is a binding legal agreement.

Code of Conduct

• I will follow the Squads Abroad Ethics Policy with respect for local culture and community.
• I will not use or possess illegal drugs, weapons, or engage in violent behavior.
• Alcohol use must not interfere with program activities.
• Sexual misconduct or intimate relationships during the program are prohibited.
• Violating local laws or program rules may result in immediate dismissal at my expense.

Risks & Assumption of Liability

• I understand international travel involves risks, including illness, accidents, crime, political unrest, and environmental hazards.
• I voluntarily assume these risks, including injury, death, or property loss.
• I agree to remain with my group and follow staff guidance to help ensure safety.

Insurance & Medical

• I will be covered by Squads Abroad’s travel insurance during program dates.
• I am responsible for any additional insurance, medical expenses, and recommended vaccinations.
• I consent to medical treatment in case of injury or illness.

Discipline

• Serious violations (drugs, alcohol abuse, violence, weapons, sexual misconduct, disrespect to the community) may result in immediate dismissal at my expense.
• Lesser violations may result in one warning, with dismissal on a repeat offense.
  

Photo/Video Release

• I grant Squads Abroad permission to use my image and likeness for marketing or educational purposes unless revoked in writing.

Waiver of Liability

• I release, discharge, and agree not to hold Global Brigades/Squads Abroad, its staff, volunteers, and partners liable for any claims or damages arising from my participation, except in cases of gross negligence.

Refunds & Force Majeure

• I have reviewed and agree to the published Refund & Cancellation Policy.

• Programs may be postponed or canceled due to events beyond Squads Abroad’s control (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics, political unrest), and the Refund & Cancellation Policy will apply.

Legal

• This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California.
• Any disputes will be settled by arbitration in California under the American Arbitration Association rules.
• If any part of this agreement is found invalid, the remainder will remain in effect.

By signing below, the Participant (and if under 18, their Parent/Legal Guardian) confirm that they have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to the above terms.
